Today we are a thriving winery with more than fifteen fine wine brands, located in the Russian River Valley near Sebastopol, California, built on a foundation of a shared passion for wine and a belief that there is always a better way to make something.
Brack Mountain doesn’t follow the pack. We look at things differently, and we’re not afraid to break with convention. We challenge assumptions and turn constraints into solutions. DANIEL FITZGERALD, DIRECTOR OF WINEMAKING
Brack Mountain’s founding Winemaker, Dan Fitzgerald is committed to making elegant, age-worthy wines that reflect the specific site, season and source of their origin. Dan’s deep appreciation for fine craftsmanship and attention to detail, coupled with a life-long love of open spaces, are the root of his attraction to both vineyard and cellar. An artist by nature, Dan’s innate curiosity drives his passion for winemaking, which is fueled by his fierce work ethic.
A Northern California native, Dan lived in Europe for 13 years. This Old World frame of reference developed his affinity for delicately balanced, lower alcohol wines. He began his winemaking career in 2002 in the Dry Creek Valley of Sonoma County, not far from Brack Mountain’s Enos Estate Vineyards. Not content to make wine just once a year, Dan worked back-to-back harvests in two hemispheres over three years before going on to earn a Bachelor’s of Science in Enology from Fresno State University.
Following graduation, Dan worked with Winemaker Bob Cabral at Williams Selyem Winery in the Russian River Valley, rounding out his trifecta of pinot noir and chardonnay winemaking experience at James Halliday’s Coldstream Hills Winery in Australia’s Yarra Valley, and Robert Sinskey Vineyards in Napa Valley.
Before joining Brack Mountain as a Partner and Director of Winemaking, Dan was Head Winemaker at Pellegrini Family Vineyards. Dan sets the direction for Brack Mountain’s winemaking and leads the cellar team with co-Winemaker John Harley. Dan lives in Healdsburg with his wife Barbara, and their three dogs.
JASON ENOS, FOUNDER
After 25 years of building businesses, Brack Mountain Wine Company Founder Jason Enos has found a home in wine country. Beginning with the first harvest from his Dry Creek Valley estate vineyard in 2005, Jason crafted a vision for a different kind of wine company built on innovation and streamlined operations. After launching Brack Mountain in 2008, Jason has worked to bring that vision to reality and leads a team in producing age-worthy, handcrafted wines at every price point. Jason lives in Los Altos, California with his wife, Samantha and their three children.
CHRIS FITZGERALD, FOUNDER
For the past decade Chris has focused on growing, making and understanding wine. A native Californian, he has lived in rural Northern California most of his life, with the exception of a 14-year stint in Belgium.
Chris’s professional life is anchored in the realm of ideas. A founding partner in a creative consulting firm, he has had the privilege of working with some of the world’s most admired companies, building communications strategy around products, services and events focused on their customers, stakeholders and employees. The idea of launching a new kind of wine company resonated with Chris’s insatiable drive to make things work better.
He lives in Healdsburg’s Dry Creek Valley, and along with his wife, Honore, where they farm Nous Deux Vineyard, the birthplace of Bench wines.
